$200,000 OTF Capital Grant Makes Armagh Accessible

Mississauga, ON – On Monday, local MPP Rudy Cuzzetto met with the team at Armagh to hear more about the $200,000 Capital Grant from the provincial government’s Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF). The grant was used to install an accessibility ramp that will allow residents of all abilities to access Armagh House.

“I am proud to see the Ontario Trillium Foundation support Armagh House with this Capital Grant. This investment will enhance the safety, comfort, and dignity of women and children fleeing violence, helping ensure that they have access to the secure environment they need to rebuild their lives,” said Rudy Cuzzetto, MPP for Mississauga—Lakeshore. “Armagh’s work is vital to our community, and I commend their continued dedication to supporting survivors with compassion and strength.”

In 2024, Armagh completed a capital expansion project by opening ten new apartment-style units in addition to our nine existing units. The new building has two fully accessible AODA-compliant units to improve assistance to families with diverse abilities. Although this marked a successful step toward creating a more inclusive and accessible home, accessibility issues remained existing in our original building. The $200,000 OTF Capital Grant was used to construct a ramp that leads up to the entrance of Armagh’s old building front entrance. This ramp will provide residents with mobility challenges access to programming, frontline support, and essential resources, eliminating accessibility barriers.

“On behalf of everyone at Armagh we are grateful to OTF for supporting us in our initiative to make Armagh more accessible. This ramp will enhance our ability to offer support to community members facing physical barriers. With the support of OTF and the installation of our new ramp, we're committed to ensuring that everyone can access and thrive in our home” said Jannies Le, Armagh’s Executive Director.

As a transitional supportive housing facility, Armagh offers a safe and supportive environment for abused women, with or without children. The construction of this ramp only furthers our mission by accommodating more women and children looking to rebuild their lives free from violence. It takes the support of an entire community to end cycles of violence. Join us, by donating, volunteering, and advocating in support of survivors. Together we can create a safer and more supportive community. To learn more about Armagh’s work please visit https://www.armaghhouse.ca/.
